KARACHI: The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has written a letter to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in connection with delay in issuance of exemption certificates to the taxpayers.

The KTBA said that they were receiving various queries from their members as the department are either not issuing the certificates or delaying the process due to the reason that their jurisdiction will be changed w.e.f August 1, 2016.

In this regard, the KTBA requested to change in jurisdiction will take place and is effective from August-2016 in which almost a week is left and in their opinion adding that this is not a valid reason for not issuing the certificates because currently the power and the Jurisdiction lies with them until 31st July, 2016.

The KTBA further requested to kindly indulge into the matter for this urgent issue of “Exemption Certificates” which is the legal right of the genuine taxpayer who is regularly contributing into the exchequer and any unnecessary delay or refusal in this regard may kindly be looked into and the Taxpayer should be facilitated on prompt basis to create a trust between the Taxpayer and the Tax Collector.
