KUWAIT CITY: Kuwaiti and Omani security operatives joined forces and busted two Asians affiliated to a ring of drug smugglers operating in GCC countries, and seized 141 kg of hashish plus 15 kg of heroin here the other day. The find is considered to be the largest drug quantity ever smuggled to the Sultanate of Oman. Security sources said a communication officer at the Kuwait General Drug Control Department received information from Criminal Information Center of a GCC country about drug smuggling activities conducted in the Sultanate of Oman. Acting on information, a control team was formed under the guidance of the Kuwaiti communication officer to follow-up the issue.

In the meantime, the Kuwaiti officer guided security sources in Sultanate of Oman to ensure success of the operation in nailing suspects involved in the drug smuggling when negotiation with the gang begun. The Asians were arrested after reaching a deal with detectives to deliver a quantity of drugs. The suspects are said to have entered the Sultanate of Oman illegally and hid 141 kg of hashish plus 15 kg of heroin on the beach. During interrogation, the two Asians admitted their affiliation to a ring of drug smugglers from one Asian country directing them to hide the contraband for distribution to other drug dealers trafficking in drugs across the GCC States.
