NEW DELHI: The Lenovo A5000 smartphone is now available to buy in Russia at RUB 12,000 (approximately Rs. 14,500) while there have been no announcements for other markets.

One of the most notable features of the Lenovo A5000 is that it is backed by a large 4000mAh battery which is rated to deliver up to 17 hours of talk time and up to 792 hours of standby time on 3G networks. Unfortunately, the official listing of the Lenovo A5000 hints that the smartphone might just support 3G connectivity with no 4G LTE support. The company also touts that the Smartphone’s Quick Charge feature allows the battery to get fully charged in 3 hours while a 15-minute charge offers up to 4 hours of talk time.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6582) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and Mali T760-MP2 GPU. The Lenovo A5000 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). It sports an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash while there is a 2-megapixel fixed-focus front-facing camera also on board.

Apart from 3G, the Lenovo A5000 offers GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth connectivity options.

It measures 140×71.4×9.98mm, weighs 160 grams, and is listed in Black and White colours. The Lenovo A5000 packs sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

We can expect Lenovo to soon launch the A5000 smartphone in India which will be targeted at affordable segment and 3G users. The Chinese company already has launched its new Lenovo A6000 Plus and Lenovo A7000 handsets with LTE support in India.
