LAS VEGAS: Lenovo launched its LaVie Z laptops series in the International Consumer Electronics Show 2015, which may be the lightest laptops in the world.
Lenovo, in partnership with NEC Personal Computers, showed off two laptops off the LaVie Z series during the CES 2015: the HZ550, which weighs only 1.72 pounds (0.78 kilograms), and the HZ750, which weighs only 2.04 pounds (0.93 kilograms).
Lenovo and NECP have been collaborating since 2011 to release computers and laptops to the Japanese market and the LaVie line is their most recent efforts, building a reputation as slim and lightweight portables for those on the go.
Both the HZ550 and the HZ750 can be converted into either a laptop or tablet, and comes with a magnesium-lithium body that not only made it durable but also half as light as aluminum.
The HZ550 comes with an Intel Core M processor, while the HZ750 comes with either an i7 chip or a Core i5 chip. They both also boast a display of 1920 x 1080 resolution and a screen that can rotate at 360 degrees, with the HZ750 also boasting a touch screen.
The LaVie Z laptops, however, lack a Lenovo AccuType or Precision keyboard, as the keyboard is already built into the magnesium-lithium casing.
They also come with a short battery life which is due in part to its slim size. The HZ750 is said to reach only up to 6 hours, while the HZ750 has been timed for up to only 9 hours. The laptops may also a bit pricey for some consumers, with the HZ550 tagged at $1,299 and the HZ750 at $1,499.
