LUDHIANA: A man was arrested by police department’s anti-narcotics and anti-illicit liquor wing with possession of 11 cartons of illicit alcohol on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Rajesh Kumar alias Raju, a resident of Anmol Colony in Dehlon. The liquor was found under the seat of his three-wheeler. The police have also seized the vehicle in which alcohol was being smuggled.
Sub-inspector Harbans Singh, incharge anti-narcotics and anti-illicit liquor wing, said the police arrested the accused from Sham Nagar, near Railway Godown on Saturday following a tip-off. A case under section 61/1/14 of Excise Act has been registered against the accused in this context at police station division number 5.
The accused told the police that he use to get liquor from Apra near Phillaur at cheap rates and use to sell it among addicts at higher price.
