LONDON: McLaren has introduced its upcoming 675LT ., McLaren has actually added a little meatiness to its teaser by spilling a few extra bits of information.

McLaren Confirms the 675LT will Debut in Geneva

sounding exhaust note. Second, we learned that the 675LT’s aerodynamics will be out of this world, as it will produce 40 percent more downforce than the 650S that it is based upon. I couldn’t dig up exact downforce specifications on the 650S, but I can certainly reverse engineer them a bit by looking back at the MP4-12C and working forward. The 12C produced 120 kg (264 pounds) of downforce at 186 mph, and the 650S produces a reported 24 percent more than the 12C, putting it at 149 kg (328 pounds). With the 650S’ number in hand I can now guesstimate that the 675LT will produce a stout 209 kg (461 pounds) of downforce at 186 mph.

Other bits of information given up by this teaser all center on the engine. We already know that the power output will be a sinister 666 horsepower, but in this teaser McLaren also reveals that the 675LT will produce 516 pound-feet of torque at 5,500 to 6,500 rpm. A full 443 pound-feet of that torque will be available just off idle. This added grunt from the 3.8-liter V-8 is thanks to new lightweight components and new turbochargers. Also tossed in is a new titanium crossover exhaust system that bellows out a fantastic note.

For now, this is all I have to pass onto you petrol junkies, but stay tuned, as the 675LT’s Geneva debut is just around the corner on March 3, 2015.
