Inside the cabin is a new steering wheel, redesigned twin-dial instrument panel with 12 colour ‘mood lighting’ LED technology, an updated free-standing display and others. It also gets an updated infotainment system with new software including ‘Connect Me’ function, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The company has also updated the safety technologies to make them more responsive. The ‘Attention Assist’ function now reacts from 60-200kmph, while the Active Parking Assist supports longitudinal and perpendicular parking spaces. Its traffic sign wizard now gets additional traffic signs and entry restrictions. However, these features are not likely to be offered on Indian-spec model.

Under the bonnet, the luxury hatchback will remain unchanged; however, the engines will be more efficient and offer lower emissions. The top-spec A45 AMG is likely to get an improvement in performance. The India-spec model will continue to be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol engine is the 1.6-litre unit, the oil burner is the 2.2-litre motor. Both engines are paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox which transmits the power to front wheels.
