Michael to set example in drought affected areas

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael shall go to Thar Desert’s drought affected area and distribute food and medicine and oversee the remedial activities there.

Federal Minister has given his pay of this month in the fund collected by Ministry of Ports and Shipping. More so he has directed officials of Karachi Port Trust to donate a day’s salary of each employee to this fund. Rs 4.2 million are going to be collected through this effort. Michael has directed to purchase food items with this fund.

In the first step, Ministry of Ports and Shipping, on the direction of Federal Minister is sending four teams consisting of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. They will depart to affected areas of Thar Desert to dispense their services. The Ministry is going to provide medicines, worth millions of rupees to these teams so that the sick children can be cured.

Kamran Michael has also directed Port Qasim Authority to follow the same instructions as issued to Karachi Port Trust. Federal Minister shall himself distribute food packets to the drought affected people of Mithi.
