NEW HAMPSHIRE: Microsoft announces it is making Skype video calling more open and interoperable, by enabling Skype users to make back and forth video calls with Lync users. Lync is Microsoft’s enterprise centric video and Web conferencing platform.
The advantage of video calling feature to facilitate communications between Skype and Lync users was missing thus far, although Microsoft had already allowed immediate messaging and voice over IP connections between the two platforms.
Microsoft about Lync to Skype video calling capability covers the way for businesses using Lync to connect with more than 300 million Skype users through video.
An early demonstration of the addition of video calling to Skype and Lync was held by Microsoft at the Lync Conference this year. While demonstrating the video calling functionality, Microsoft had said that video integration will be delivered by the end of the year.
