NEW DELHI: The Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the current 2-in-1 tablet PC flagship of Microsoft, has received a new firmware update via Windows Update. While the update itself does not add much new features to the Surface Pro 3, it does open a variety of features and functions. The software update is delivered over-the-air (OTA) with a build version of 3.11.950.0.

Surface Pro UEFI update (v3.11.950.0) adds support for new features in Windows 10.
Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.3091.193) improves the system stability and the Wi-Fi connectivity experience, also increases the network download performance.
SATA AHCI Controller driver update (v9.4.0.1028) stabilizes deployment methodology on Surface Pro 3.
The said update has already been available since June 23 via Windows Update. However, delivery of the update will be done in stages, so not everyone will get it at the same time. Windows advised users to regularly manually check Windows Update for the availability of the new firmware.
The said update opens up the tablet PC for Windows 10. As the people over Gizmag have already upgraded the device to the available preview version of Windows 10, the Surface Pro 3 gave them a 2-in-1 tablet PC experience, and a “futuristic mobile productivity device that Microsoft has been trying to build for years”.
One notable change on the device is that it now automatically changes from desktop to tablet mode upon removal of the keyboard, giving an easier and more seamless experience with the tablet’s UI.
The Surface Pro 3 runs on 4th generation Intel Core processors, with storage of up to 256GB and up to 8GB of RAM. It sports a 12-inch display with 2160 x1440 Full HD resolutions, a fully functional detachable keyboard, and a Kickstand.
