MUMBAI: Microsoft has decided to launch its new and affordable smartphone range to India this April. The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL will be in India against the prices of Rs 4,683 and Rs 6,710 respectively. The new dual SIM Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL smartphones which we saw being unveiled at the MWC in Barcelona are most likely to succeed in India more than anywhere else. This is perhaps why the Redmond-based company isn’t wasting any time in bringing them into the country. Both the handsets have been spotted on import data website Zauba, which is telling us that large shipments of the products have reached Mumbai recently. There’s information about their price points as well, which tells us that the Microsoft Lumia 640 will cost Rs 4683, whereas its larger XL variant will have a Rs 6710 tag slapped on it. Microsoft Lumia 640 However, since these are import price tags, they will not be the final retail values of the handsets. You can expect these Microsoft gadgets to be made available at slightly higher costs than the ones we’ve mentioned in the space above. As for when the Lumia 640 and 640 XL will be released in India, there’s still no official word on that. But India Today has been told by sources that they should be introduced in the country early in April. This means the launch is just days away from now. Display sizes and camera sensors are the two main factors that distinguish these two Microsoft handsets from each other. While the 640 model bears a 5-inch 720p HD panel and an 8MP rear camera, its XL version goes for a 5.7-inch 720p HD display and a 13MP rear snapper with Carl Zeiss optics. Microsoft Lumia 640 XL We’ll have more on the Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL smartphones when additional details regarding their arrival in India are out in the open. Stay tuned until then.
