ABU DHABI: Middle East carriers recorded an 11.7 per cent growth in passenger traffic in November. Capacity among Middle East carriers was up 13.9 per cent, according to IATA, while load factor dropped 1.4 percentage points to 70.1 per cent. Global air travel volumes grew to 6.0 per cent in November, up from 5.7 per cent in the previous month.
According to the latest data from the International Air Transport Association . It was the fourth consecutive month of double-digit year-over-year growth for the region.
“November demand was healthy, but the overall picture is mixed. For example, strong traffic performance within China and India has not carried over into international demand for Asia-Pacific carriers. And while lower oil prices should be positive for economic activity, softening business confidence is having a dampening effect on international travel,” stated Tony Tyler, IATA’s director general and chief executive.
