ANKARA: The minimum bid price for Turkey’s new 4G frequency tender is set at EUR 2.298 billion, according to a decree disclosed in the state’s Official Gazette.
The 4G auction will be at frequencies from 800 MHz to 2,600 MHz in a total of 20 segments, in May. The successful procurers could pay the price at once or with four equal installments in each six months plus interest.
Who will provide 4G mobile telecommunications in Turkey has been a hotly contested topic in Turkey between private companies and government on the grounds of fair competition, lack of infrastructure and high tax cost.
In early March, the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication Lütfi Elvan announced that new GSM operator would enter the Turkish market.
The government had previously vowed to conduct the tender by the end of March 2015.
