Motorola launches Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Moto G2 for owners of Europe & US

NEW YORK: Motorola has launched Android 5.0 Lollipop update to owners of the Moto G2. It’s worth noting that the announcement only mentions Europe and the United States specifically, while owners of the device on other continents may have to wait a little longer before they can enjoy the new version of Android.

Still, despite the fact that their release schedule is not entirely perfect, Motorola have been doing a lot more than other companies in terms of keeping their devices up to date with the latest release of Android. The operating system has been out on the market for several months now, and there are still devices out there that haven’t been updated to it yet and many users have actually been making positive remarks about the manufacturer in this regard. Critics have also pointed out that this attitude is one of the main reasons for the company’s success in general.

It’s also not that difficult to see why Motorola have been able to get those updates out in time unlike some of their competitors. Their version of Android is pretty much “pure”, without any modifications from the company unlike others, like Samsung, who like to install all sorts of additional software and customizations to their versions of the operating system.

While this might be beneficial to the users of those devices as it gives them a better experience, closer to the hardware capabilities of the devices, it also creates a problem where users have to wait longer for each update while the company performs its necessary modifications to the new software release. And in the end, it seems that not everyone enjoys the changes made by Samsung and other companies in this regard, as some critics have been calling their version of Android “bloated” and actually worse than the base version.

Meanwhile, owners of the Motorola Moto G2 who’ve already made the upgrade to the newest release of Android have been reporting various benefits other than the obvious UI improvements and smoother navigation. The new operating system version apparently puts a much less serious strain on the battery life, while also providing a more stable experience that’s less prone to crashes from unstable applications. At the same time, Google have been working hard to develop a more unified design style for the operating system, and have been encouraging app developers to follow suit in order to achieve a consistent look for the entire Android environment, like iOS and Windows Phone have.
