NEW DELHI: Motorola Moto E 2nd Generation units from Verizon are to expect the latest Android v5.1 Lollipop. The now elusive Lollipop v5.1 update readily comes with a 23.11.17 build number. Available as an OTA update at present, the updated software still carries the core functions and features of the v5.1 Lollipop OS, together with a few performance improvements.

“The update brings Android beyond Smartphones and tablets, allowing access to apps and Android services on other connected screens like TVs, cars and wearables,” Verizon announced.

“The new material design offers complex animations and 3-D views, 64-bit ABI support and improved runtime,” the company added.

When the update is installed, users could now modify their phone’s notification settings and volume even when there is a playing media file. The selection between Bluetooth and Wifi devices was also made simpler, with the addition of pull-down controls. Volume panel icon settings were also integrated in order to match the icons located in the status bar.

Accidental interactions can be prevented now because the minimum swipe distance has been increased for Ambient Display. Significant enhancements for alarms and the theft protection feature were also updated.

A new security feature called the Factory Reset Protection prevents unauthorized device use, even when a complete factory reset has been selected. With this feature, the phone is locked until the owner’s Google account registry has been entered into it, once more.

Motorola Moto E 2nd generation is the company’s entry level device, running under 1.2 GHZ 64-bit 410 Snapdragon processor, 8GB internal storage, and 1GB RAM, according to GSM Arena.
