MULTAN: Multan Dry Port has handled export of different goods of worth 1.90944 billion in the month of January. Multan Dry Port has been used for the export of various goods including cotton yarn, made-up textile articles, garments, leather uppers, and grey cloth during the month of January in the fiscal year 2014-15.
A major export item from Dry Port was Cotton yarn. Yarn worth Rs 1.369 billion was exported in the first month 2015. Multan is major city of South Punjab and South Punjab has its prime significance in the production of Cotton Yarn.
Made-up textile items and their threads of Rs 48.68 million were exported via Multan Dry Port during January.
The export volume of the leather uppers, shoes and leather chapples from Multan Dry Port in the first month of January was worth Rs 200.03 million, adding export of garments of Rs 11.62 million. Miscellaneous items worth Rs18.94 million were also exported through Multan Dry Port.
General Manager Multan Dry Port Col (Retired) Awais Butt said that a marketing team had been formed to enhance the export business volume at dry port for future progress.
