Multan Railways division earnings up by 15pc

MULTAN: Multan Railways has become top third division of the country with regard to passengers earning after Karachi and Lahore.

Daily income of the division has increased up to 15 percent in fiscal year 2018-19 as compared to the last five years, a senior Railways official told media on Wednesday.

“In freight earning Multan has got second ranking after Karachi”, Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways Ameer Daud Pouta highlighted.

He said earlier the total number of passengers registered here was around 9000 daily across the division which comprises 16 districts. However, this number has shot up to 10,400 from mid of last year to date.

The DS said the authorities were very keen to address general complaints of passengers. He said a complaint cell is being set up at DS office by end of current month.

He said the local railway administration was well cognizant of issues and complaints of its signals staff, and assured that it would be addressed near future.
