NAB Karachi recovers Rs 16b from PAF, Maxim Group in mega corruption case: Director Hafeez Siddiqui

KARACHI: PAF management and JV Partner Ch Tanvir Builder of Maxim Group have surrendered before NAB investigation and agreed to refund the claims of 6000 affectees by paying more than Rs 16 billions to them with immediate effect.

Due to untiring/relentless efforts of NAB team headed by Director Hafeez Siddiqui under the close supervision of DG NAB Sindh Dr Najaf Quli Mirza and with the patronage of Chairman NAB Justice Jawed Iqbal, PAF management & their arrested JV Partner Ch Tanvir Builder of Maxim Group surrendered before NAB investigation and agreed to pay hefty amount of Rs 16 billion to 6000 affectees through National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Sources said the amount of Rs 13.5 billion was taken over by NAB by freezing their JV account at the very outset of inquiry besides arrests of high-profile scoundrels. Both PAF & Maxim will pay Rs 3 billion as remaining liability of accused to NAB for 100% refund to the affectees. Assets worth Rs 6 billion in shape of land & machinery/assets at site will remain in NAB custody as collateral against liability of Rs 3 billion.

The swift & successful conclusion of a case of super mega nature having huge number of affectees and amounts involved is unprecedented in the history of white color crime investigation around the world. This is happened only due to efforts NAB Karachi team led by Director Hafeez Siddiqui under supervision of DG NAB Sindh Dr Najaf Quli Mirza. NAB Karachi team is implementing Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal’s motto of ‘Accountability For All’ in its true letter and spirit. NAB Karachi team is fully committed to eradicate corruption from the society for betterment of the country and future generations.

Mr Hafeez Siddiqui Director has been handling other mega cases in past including Bahria Town Karachi wherein SCP charged BTK with Rs 460 billion on the basis of NAB investigation. He has also headed the team who arrested Finance Minister Balochistan Khalid Lango and Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani & recovered Rs 3.5 billion from them including recovery of Rs 65 crores from the home of Secretary Raisani during the raid.

The present setup of NAB Karachi can do wonders under the supervision of DG Dr Najaf Mirza in apprehending the perpetrators of last 12 years of corruption which deprived citizens of Sindh of their rights, if given full powers.
