KATHMANDU: A man who is allegedly said to be UAE return was caught by the police when he was trying to escape customs with 349 grams gold, from Tribhuvan International Airport.
Deepak Raj Paudel (28) from Gajarkot, Dumrebesi-9 of Tanahun had landed in Kathmandu via an Air Arabia flight (G9539) from Sharjah of United Arab Emirates yesterday.
The gold costs Rs 1.59 million as per the current price, police said.
Paudel was arrested after he had crossed the customs check point at the airport.
Police handed over the man and seized gold to TIA Customs Office for further action.
