TOKYO: Square Enix’s new project is set to be revealed next week, and the clues laid down by the Final Fantasy makers look to be pointing to Star Ocean 5.
The company launched a new teaser website for their secret project this week and features what appears to be a massive sea, with the letters “S A R” and the numbers “0 1 0 1” floating above it.
Many fans are hoping it will be a new Star Ocean project, having had to wait almost five years for a new instalment.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope was released for the Xbox 360 on June 5, 2009, in Europe, and for the PlayStation 3 worldwide in February 2010.
The Last Hope was prequel to the entire series, chronicling the aftermath of World War III in which humanity must find a new home to survive.
One fan wrote on Twitter about the project: “If Star Ocean makes it a new-school RPG with experimental mechanics and that old cooking system. Merci.”
While another added: “April 13 for the next update on #sqex_secret. Like I said yesterday: I hope its Star Ocean 5, or else!
“Hopping onto the ‘We Want Star Ocean 5’ bandwagon.”
