NEW YORK: The latest Android update  Android version 5.0 ‘Lollipop’ has been made available to some Android devices, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 9, and Nexus 7. The new Android Lollipop version brings along a new user interface as well as notable performance improvements.

However, a number of Nexus users have also been complaining about several issues which have resulted from the installation of the Android Lollipop update on their devices.

According to the complaints from the users of Nexus 5, the Android Lollipop update has led to issues in Wi-Fi connectivity, particularly intermittent availability which is apparently putting a strain on their data plans. Some Nexus 5 users have also reported that the wireless connection standard is also causing heavy battery drain.

About the battery-life issue affecting devices updated to Android Lollipop, Google Engineer Trevor Johns said in a statement: “Android Engineering is aware of an issue affecting Nexus 5 users running Android 5.0 which causes significant miscellaneous battery usage while Wi-Fi is enabled. This appears to be caused by an abnormally high number of IRQ wakeup events.”

Meanwhile, one of the latest issues being faced by the Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 users and also owners of some other devices because of the Android Lollipop update is the flashlight bug. Moreover, some reports have also disclosed that the update removes the silent mode setting from the handsets.
