New Delhi: Several people have reported that their Nexus 7 devices bricked after updates to various versions of Android Lollipop. Some of the users have said that their Nexus 5 devices were also impacted. In most cases, this happened after days or weeks of updating to the new software.

A report on 9 to 5 Google notes that it is not exactly clear which updates are affecting which devices, but the problem with the Lollipop software seems widespread. It seems that the 5.0.2 version could be causing the problem.

Users have reported varied symptoms with some saying their devices getting stuck on the Google logo boot screen, others have said that they are unable to boot into recovery mode. It is observed that the 2013 Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi) is the device most commonly affected.

One user complained about his Asus Nexus 7 getting warmer than normal, pointing towards possible hardware issues that might not be fixable. Another user who took their tablet to a repair shop was told to get the device’s logic board replaced.

A user has posted on the forum that while ASUS is offering to fix these devices out of warranty for around $200, Google isn’t helping Nexus buyers who purchased outside of the Google Store/Google Play Store.

Agitated users have also taken to Twitter to post complains about their bricked Nexus devices with the hashtag #Nexus7Bricked.
