Muscat: Port of Salalah now started shipment of less than container consignments, along with offering GAC and the wider Omani business community the opportunity to take advantage of Salalah’s extensive connections to enjoy faster transit times and greater schedule reliability which, in turn, results in significant savings in logistics costs as port also started shipment of Less than Container (LCL) import consignments in cooperation with Gulf Agency Company (Oman).

Daniel Nordberg, general manager of GAC Oman, said, “The excellent connectivity and the comprehensive facilities offered by the port have led to Salalah becoming an important part of the supply chain and logistics solutions offered by GAC to its customers in Oman. We are thankful to the Royal Oman Police Customs team in Salalah for their excellent ongoing support to make this possible.”

David Gledhill, chief executive officer of Port of Salalah said, “We are happy to be able to be playing a role in offering competitive and cost effective logistics solutions to Omani businesses.”

“We shall continue to work with the various stakeholders to identify and develop such opportunities which in the end benefit the Omani businesses as a whole,” he added.

The concept has been well received by the business community, and with the support of the Royal Oman Police Customs and GAC, the Port of Salalah plans to extend the service, adding more in-country value to Oman and expanding its solutions to include various export-oriented customers nationally, regionally and globally.
