ABU DHABI: An Omani human trafficker who tried to smuggle a woman into UAE was arrested by Abu Dhabhi Custom officials and charged $5, 500.
An Omani man was charged with trying to bring a woman, who was deported earlier from the UAE, through Al Hili port in his vehicle and claiming that she was his wife. The accused allegedly admitted to being paid $5,500 (Dh20, 201) for the woman he was smuggling.
According to the law on the entry of foreigners, those found guilty of hiring or sheltering an illegal resident are subject to no less than two months in prison and a fine of Dh100, 000.
