Omani police arrest 5 drug smugglers, seize heroin, marijuana

MUSCAT: Omani Police has arrested five men and seized large quantity of heroin, cash and eighty rolls of marijuana at Wilayat of Liwa&Wilayat of Bausher here the other day.

Two people were arrested in the wilayat of Liwa by North Batinah police, on the charges of drug dealing. Heroin weighing 1.8 kilogrammes and a gun was recovered from them.

Similarly, a national suspected of being a drug addict was arrested in the wilayat of Liwa and heroin was seized from him. All three accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.

In another case, two Asians were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs in Khasab and Bausher. Eighty rolls of marijuana were seized from the accused in the wilayat of Bausher while some cash too was recovered from them. Narcotic seeds were found hidden inside  a ‘doll’ in the wilayat of Khasab. The two accused were sent to the Public Prosecution for trial.
