I am pleased to note that the International Customs Day this year finds Pakistan Customs better prepared than ever to face the security challenges to global supply chain through efficient and effective use of Information and Communication Technology.

The pace of globalization in recent year has reshaped international trade scenario which now demands constant information exchange , not only amongst jurisdiction , but also with the business community .Customs organizations around the world are committed to follow a coordinated approach and increased cooperation.

There is a need to cope with the changing developments in international trade through a well-planned strategy for enhancing skilled human resource, establishing modern cargo clearance system, besides putting in place robust systems for information exchange for effective enforcement and deterrence against illicit trade . While felicitating the officers and officials of Pakistan Customs on this auspicious occasion, I expect them to strive further for aligning themselves with the international best practices.
