Pakistan Customs playing vital role to strengthen economy: Hafeez Shaikh

KARACHI: Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that Pakistan Customs is playing a role in lifting up the country’s economy.

According to the details, to commemorate the efforts of Pakistan Customs, a glorious ceremony was held at Customs House, Karachi. The commencement of the event was marked by flag hoisting ceremony.

Chief Guest Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh highly appreciated the role of Pakistan Customs in fostering economic sustainability of the country, increasing flawless trends in exports and imports and boosting the revenue generation.

An active contingent of officers and sepoys of Pakistan Customs Preventive demonstrated a splendid show of parade. Chief guest inspected the contingents included in the parade, also.

The event was attended by people from different circles of the society including government officers, business community and also by foreign dignitaries and ambassadors as well as a large number of diplomats from different countries.

As a part of this event, Marine Section of Pakistan Customs Preventive, Karachi also held a flag march in open sea. The boats of Pakistan Customs, Marine Branch actively participated in the flag march. This flag march event was unparalleled of its type. Boats participating in the flag march saluted to the chief guest as well.

Collector Preventive Karachi delivered of anti-smuggling sea operations at this occasion and emphasized on the revival marine section on modern parameters and also laid stress on the security of coastal belt of Pakistan.

Importance of Anti-smuggling activities performed by Marine Section of Pakistan Customs is inevitable due to changing business trends.

Later, a certificate awarding ceremony was held in Old Customs House, Karachi. Certificates were distributed among Customs officers with distinguished achievements.

The chief guest in his farewell speech emphasized that a more effective role by Pakistan Customs is the need of time to revamp national economy. It will subsequently result into a more secure, prosperous and healthy society and Pakistan will rise in the world community and in the South Asian region, in particular, as a strong economy.
