PESHAWAR: Pakistan and Iran have agreed on strengthening the cooperation by taking up the challenges posed by the miscreants who caused the economies of both nations a loss of billions of dollars.
The agreement was reached on Wednesday during the first session of Pakistan-Iran Higher Border Commission in Tehran.
The Pakistan delegation was led by Director General Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mansoor Ahmad Khan while the Iranian delegation was led by Director General, International Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Azar Panahi.
The two sides held constructive discussions for effective implementation of existing border mechanism within the framework of the Agreement for Administration of Pakistan-Iran border of 1960.
They agreed on the need to prevent border violations in order to avoid further losses to the national interests of both countries.
There has been historic trade relationship between the two countries which has facilitated the people to earn money for household activities on both sides of the border. In order to facilitate the transit activities and increase the volume of trade, both countries agreed on utilization of resources.
The delegation stressed the need for using the available data for the best management of the border and cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of both countries.
The protection of border for trade purposes was stressed for border management forces of both countries to not harm the nature of the Agreement for Administration of Pakistan-Iran border of 1960.
