Pakistan to be among top 25 economies till 2025: Ahsan

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pakistan is on the path of economic revival and will be among top 25 world economies till 2025.

He said it was the need of hour that we all move ahead with unanimity on government decisions in the better interest of the country. Ahsan Iqbal expressed these views at the 11th CEO Summit Asia-2015, Best Performing Leadership Award and Book Launch 100 Performing CEOs, Leaders and Companies of Pakistan-2015 with the theme of “Believe in Pakistan” organized by CEO Club Pakistan in collaboration with Planning Commission, Board of Investment Pakistan and Privatization Commission of Pakistan, at a local hotel on Thursday.

The summit was attended by 600 top chairmen, CEOs, Presidents, MDs, Country Managers, Entrepreneurs, Government Officials, Diplomats and Business leaders. The purpose of the mega corporate event was to bring the soft corporate image of Pakistan at global level.

He said that if anyone had the passion of success and want to achieve his or her destination then no one can stop him from getting that. He said that Pakistan commenced its life as a non-industrial country in 1947 but today the country was exporting different equipments to the world. No doubt Pakistan is moving towards development, he added.

He said we kept on weeping 64 years at half empty glass but did not highlight positive things of our country. Ashan said that if things were compared including law and order situation, energy crisis, Balochistan issue and others to 2013 than today’s Pakistan was moving fast on the track of development.

Owing to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), presently, Pakistan was being considered as an emerging economic giant. He said Chinese investment of 64bn dollars was drawing attention of the world towards Pakistan.

He said Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz led government was making untiring efforts for the development of country.

World is witnessing positive change in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan was going to deliver in South Asia, China and Central Asia with the help of China through CPEC in the future.

He said that it was just a start and Pakistan could become the hub of economic cooperation.

State Minister and Chairperson, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), MNA Marvi Memon on the occasion highlighted the responsibilities and efforts of BISP for the marginalized section of society.

She said that PML-N led government was the major investor in BISP and specially focusing on the woman.

She said BISP was endeavouring in proper manner for the welfare of the poor population of the country. BISP, being the custodian of 5.15 million beneficiary families, is one of the largest Social Safety Nets in the world and its efforts were being recognized at global level. BISP aims to give dignity, empowerment and meaning to the lives of beneficiaries.

She also suggested CEOs and business leaders to invest in corporate social responsibility. She said that BISP may offer its data of 27 million beneficiary households through Demographic Directory of BISP for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities which will help beneficiaries to graduate out of poverty.

She said that BISP was only providing subsistence but the business leaders must play their due part to alleviate the poverty.

Prof. Ahsan Iqbal and MNA Marvi Memon unveiled “Book launch 100 performing CEOs, Leaders and Companies of Pakistan-2015” and on the occasion they were presented Souvenirs.

Earlier, Ijaz Nisar, Founder and President, CEO Club Pakistan and Manager Today Magazine kicked off the summit with welcome address, S.M.  Muneer Chairman Din Group of Industries and Chief Executive TDAP, Muhammad Ali Tabba Chairman & CEO Lucky Cement, Atif Bajwa President & CEO Bank Alfalah, Nadeem Hussain President & CEO Tameer Bank and others also addressed to the summit.
