PERTH: People across the globe will flick their lights off for the worldwide movement of Earth Hour when clocks hit 8.30pm across 24 different time zones.
This year, 7,000 cities and towns across 162 countries from Cambodia to Cameroon to Colombia, will be celebrating the ‘lights off’ hour.
Earth Hour in Australia has a special focus this year on supporting Australian farmers and food which are being affected by increased carbon pollution.
World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Australia, co-founders of Earth Hour, are highlighting how different regions of Australia will feel the impact of climate change and what increased temperatures will mean for fresh produce.
In line with this theme, thousands of food-related events will take place across Australia including twilight picnics, evening farmers’ markets and paddock pop-up restaurants.
