Petrol pumps crush PM’s order, start selling petrol at Rs110/ltr

LAHORE: Petrol pump owners across Punjab have refused Rs 9.43 per litre cut in petrol price and closed down their petrol pumps on Saturday against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision.

Motorists and other vehicles owners are facing severe difficulties in different cities of Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Sialkot due to petrol pump owners shutting down of their stations. Some petrol pumps have started selling petrol up to Rs110 per litre.

Just a day earlier, while addressing a special meeting of Cabinet in Islamabad, PM Nawaz announced to cut petrol prices by 9.43 rupees per litre with effect from November 1, to provide relief to the public.

Petrol pump owners claimed that they had bought petrol at a higher price and would sell it at those prices till their stock ends.

As per media reports, DCO Lahore said action was being taken against station owners and two owners were arrested as well.
