MANILA: The Bureau of Customs filed smuggling charges before the Department of Justice against a trading firm and its customs agent for the illegal import of various counterfeit products from China.
The owner and proprietor of NSGV Trading, Noel Villaflor, and customs broker Sherjun Saldon were charged for violating the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines in relation to the import of fake goods from China in May 2014.
The shipment contained various counterfeit goods worth P300 million. The shipment was declared to contain cotton fabric; polyester pants, jackets, coats and scarves, skateboards, aluminum ladder and grinders.
But it was found to contain 15,960 assorted undeclared items, many of which were counterfeit.
