MANILA: Philippines’ Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) issued Memorandum Circular no. 12 on September 16 which contains new policy for fine on containers staying at port. The new policy is that the larger the container, the higher the fine.
As per details, government issued new policy for fine when it comes to “overstaying” containers at the Port of Manila and nearby ports.
The new rates were applicable only for the containers at Manila International Container Terminal, and the ports of South Harbor, Batangas and Subic.
A total of P 5,000 pesos will be imposed on a 20-footer container on the 11th day after imported containers are cleared and issued gate passes by the Bureau of Customs for withdrawal.
A 35-footer will be charged P 8,750, a 40-footer P 10,000 and a 45-footer P 11,250 on over staying at ports.
The circular will take effect 15 days after publication.
