WARSAW: Polish and Chinese officials have met to discuss closer business relations and easier access to visas for citizens in both countries. Deputy Foreign Minister Marek Magierowski represented Poland during the Beijing talks, which were described as “strategic dialogue.” The main problem in Polish-Chinese business relations is a continued trade deficit reported by Poland, according to officials.
The Polish government is interested in seeing the Chinese market open wider to Polish food products, Magierowski told Polish Radio. “We need to bring about a situation in which this deficit decreases through foodstuff exports,” he said. The Beijing talks also focused on visa facilitation issues to enable easier travel to both countries, according to Magierowski. Ultimately, in China, there will be 15 spots in which Chinese citizens will be able to obtain visas to Poland, he said, adding that the Polish foreign ministry is also working to make it easier for Poles to obtain visas to China. “We expect that Chinese diplomatic missions in Poland will bring about a situation in which Poles have no problems getting visas,” Magierowski told Polish Radio. Soon another Polish deputy foreign minister, Joanna Wronecka, will make a trip to Beijing to discuss issues including cooperation between the two nations in the UN Security Council, Magierowski said.
