WARSAW: Poland’s manufacturing sector purchasing managers’ index PMI, a gauge of manufacturing, fell by 1.6 pts month on month to 52.4 points in May after a 0.8 pts decrease in the previous month, a report by HSBC and Markit showed.
“Output and new orders both rose at the slowest rates since last October, with the pace of expansion in the latter easing for the fourth month in succession since the start of the year,” the statement reads.
As orders slowed down more than production, backlogs of work decline. Also export business and purchases slowed down. Hiring also decelerated, but remained strong versus historical trends. In prices, input prices barely moved at all, while prices of finished goods declined further.
