NEW YORK: Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen have been facing fuel leak problems in some variants of their vehicles. The companies have recalled more than 93,000 cars and SUVs across the world to fix the problem.

Volkswagen AG announced that it will recall more than 25,000 vehicles in the US to fix fuel leak problems. The recall also covers Audi A6, Audi A7 from 2012 and 2013, and Audi Q7, S4 and S5 from 2011 to 2012.

While providing information about the recalled vehicles, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that all the recalled vehicles have three-liter V-6 engines. The agency also stated about recall from Porsche, covering the Cayenne and Panamera S hybrids from 2011 to 2012.

According to Volkswagen, it has observed that vibration during driving and production issues can cause small leaks in rare cases. Audi and VW said they didn’t receive any report about fires or injuries caused by the problem. As per spokesman of Audi in the United States, about 80,000 cars have been recalled worldwide to fix the issue. About two-third of the cars are in the United States, according to the spokesman.

A VW spokesman in Germany announced that only a few hundred cars have been recalled because the recall included only one VW model. The spokesman has not provided an exact number. According to Porsche, it has recalled about 13,500 cars across the world as the engines of these cars were supplied by Volkswagen and Audi.

As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 27,000 VW, Audi and Porsche cars have been recalled in the United States. The problem was found in 2013 when customers had complained about fuel smell.
