Port Qasim witnesses heavy traffic

KARACHI: Four ships C.V ACX Crystal, M.T Vesthomen, M.T Yong Tong-I and  M.T Arietis carrying containers, palm oil and furnace oil were berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and T FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Meanwhile four more ships with containers, phosphoric acid, project cargo and LPG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period. Berth occupancy was managed at the port at 50% on Sunday, where seven ships namely C.V ACX Cry Stal, C.V MSC Alghero, M.V Fareast Harmony, M.V Neer, M.T Vesthomen, M.T Tong-I and M.T Arietis are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, iron ore, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo volume during last 24 hours handled at 94,700 tons, comprises 63,198 tons imports and 31,502 tons exports inclusive containerized cargo carried in 1,982 containers, (TEUs) (329 imports and 1,653 exports TEUs) were handled of the port.

Container Vessel ‘ACX Crystal’ sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another container ships ‘MSC Alghero’ and oil tanker ‘Arietis’ are expected to sail on same day afternoon. Four ships C.V Safmarine Ngami, M.V Hanzhi, M.T As Olivia and M.T Lahore carrying containers, project cargo, phosphoric acid and furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-3, EVTL and FOTCO respectively on Monday, while two more container ships ‘Iise Wulf’ and ‘Al-Safata’ are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday.
