On the other hand, FBR officials have said that industrial electricity connection was a must to get the status.

A tax consultant told Customs Today that there were manufacturers who manufactured different products like handmade carpets and rugs, but they could not get the status of manufacturer due to not having the industrial connection. He added that a person who produced hand-made products did not need industrial connection as he had no boilers or heavy machinery to run.

Manufacturers said, “We have commercial electricity connections but they are not accepted. The FBR should entertain manufactures who play a key role in boosting of national exports.”

On the other hand, an FBR official said that rules made industrial electricity connections essential for manufacturers to enjoy the manufacturer status.
