Punjab mulls utilization of railways land for commercial purposes

LAHORE: The Punjab government is contemplating utilizing railway lands for commercial purpose, specially those near railway stations.

According to officials, the Punjab government has constituted a high-level committee headed by the Chief Secretary for preparing recommendations to explore possibilities fro the promotion of commercial and business activities at Railway lands.

The committee has been given one month to complete the task after a detailed study.

The committee will consider preparation of a feasibility report for construction of sports grounds and other venues having profitable economic activities.

This initiative is part of the government’ s planning to utilize available resources, increase earning of national organizations, strengthening national economy and ensure public welfare.
