LAHORE: Qoumi Tajir Ittehad (QTI) has sought the LCCI help against imposition of new taxes and cumbersome tax procedures that are hitting the businesses hard.
A large QTI delegation jointly led by Mian Akbar Rashid and Hafiz Abid called on LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari, Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Mibah and Vice President Kashif Anwar and apprised them of the issues being faced by the trading community.
LCCI Executive Committee Members Haji Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Afzal and Muhammad Haroon also spoke on the occasion. The QTI delegation informed the LCCI office-bearers about the complexities in the taxation system and said that the government should charge fix tax from traders instead of subjecting them various taxes under different heads. They said that this would not only raise the revenue collection but would also help the businessmen who are in troubles because of high rate of inflation.
The QTI leaders said that the businessmen having a little turnover can hire professional accountants to deal with the complexities in the tax system.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari urged the QTI delegation to come up with a solid proposal that could be forwarded to the Federal Board of Revenue and the Punjab Chief Minister.
He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry is ready to extend every possible help to the fellow businessmen to enable them to carry out their respective businesses with peace of mind.
Engineer Sohail Lashari assured the delegation that the QTI representatives would be included in the committees being formed by the LCCI.
The LCCI President briefed the delegation about LCCI office-bearers meeting with the Chief Minister Punjab and Secretary Excise and Taxation. He said that on the directions of the Chief Minister, the Commissioner Lahore Division was in constant contact with the LCCI for the formation of issue-based committees.
Malik Khalid Mehmood, Muhammad Akbar Butt, Sheikh Umer Hayat, Sohail Mehmood Butt, Ashiq Shahid, Rao Akram, Chaudhry Azmat, Malik Nisar Khokhar, Javaid Iqbal Butt and Sheikh Abdul Qadir were prominent among the other participants of the meeting.
