Elaborating on the module, the sources informed this scribe that the importer through this module would have to fill up a questionnaire pertaining to the imported consignments, their PCT headings, description and value.

Responding to a query, the sources disclosed that the module is currently working across the country and will certainly help in filling the correct and error-free goods declarations (GDs) through the automated system.

“The questionnaire in the form of Structure Description Module will help both sides – Customs authorities and traders – eliminate the dwell time,” a source said, adding that transparency into the clearance system would also be intact through automation.

Sources further said that Reforms and Automation Director Abdul Majid Yousufani had given a briefing to the FBR authorities before launching and upgrading the module.

Replying to another question, the sources said that the authorities concerned of R&A are fully determined to upgrade and automate the entire clearance system and more upgrading in various modules is expected through the automated system in the near future.
