PARIS: Renault discloses a new concept known as the Alpine Celebration, the new two-seater concept is, as the name implies, designed to mark the brand’s 60th anniversary.

It has been three years since the brand unveiled its first new-age concept – the A110-50 – and Renault remains committed to re-launching the boutique sports car offshoot in the near future.

Speaking at the 2014 Paris motor show, Alpine CEO Bernard Olliver said the road car would launch in 2016.

“The car will have all the DNA of Alpine,” Olliver said at the time. “The car with be a modern sports car with the technology of today with the materials of today.”

He indicated that the re-born Alpine would be powered by a mid-mounted Renault engine that will drive the rear wheels.

But Alpine made no mention of any technical features of the Celebration concept and instead focused only on its design.

Alpine claims the car “faithfully replicates the timeless style of Alpines of old whilst adding a modern twist.”
