MOSCOW: Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Arkady Dvorkovich, said that Russia may extend the wheat export tax till June 30, 2015.
The export tax was introduced on February 1, 2015 as a means of controlling the rate of inflation on food, and it has significantly reduced the price of wheat. Leading producers have been requesting an early end to the tax. Dvorkovich has, however, made it clear that there will be no premature cancellation of the tax and that on the contrary he sees arguments for extending it beyond June.
The Government has requested submissions on this issue by April 15, 2015, and will consider the matter further.
