MOSCOW: In the first four months of 2017, Russia increased its sawn timber exports again, both in value and in volume terms, indicate the statistics published by the Russian Federal Customs Office. Thus, during the first four months of the current year Russia exported 5.551 million tonnes of sawn timber. That is 11.45% more than during the respective period of the last year. The total value of the exported Russian sawn timber increased as well. In January-April 2017 it came up to $1.153 billion having gone up by 19.4%.
In their turn, Russian log exports went a bit down in volume terms. In January-April 2017, Russian log exports went down to 6.24 million m3 while during the respective months of the last year the figure equalled 6.51 million m3. Thus, Russian log exports decreased by 4.22% y-o-y. The total value of the Russian logs exported in January-April 2017 came up to $479.3 million, that is 7.7% more than during the respective period of 2016.
