That’s good news, however, as the actual launch for the Core Prime will occur sooner than we expected. The phone will be up for grabs from Big Red in online form on February 26, which is this Thursday. You’ll be able to find it in Verizon’s stores starting on March 5.

To get one, you’ll need to part with just $29.99, and sign a new two-year contract. If you prefer not to pay anything upfront, you can use Verizon’s Edge installment plans, where you’ll shell out $8 per month if you’re eligible.

The Galaxy Core Prime will have support for the carrier’s XLTE network. It sports a 4.5-inch 480×800 touchscreen, a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2MP selfie unit, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (expandable with microSD cards), and a 2,000 mAh battery.

At the helm we find the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC, with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 306 GPU. The handset runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and Verizon promises it will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop at some point in the future.
