BEIJING: Samsung’s dual SIM variant metal-clad Galaxy A5 has been listed on company’s China website. While South Korean giant had not declared the variant when it had unveiled the single-SIM Galaxy A5 smart phone last month, alongside the Galaxy A3.

Listed on Samsung’s China website as the Galaxy A5 (SM-A5000), the smart phone comes with dual Nano-SIM support, and packs the same specifications as the single-SIM Galaxy A5.

During the unveiling, Samsung had said that it will launch both the smart phones in China in November. It appears that the company is going to offer Galaxy A5 before the Galaxy A3. Samsung hasn’t listed the Galaxy A3 as yet, but we could expect that the company will also offer a dual-SIM variant of the smart phone, just like Galaxy A5.

Last week, a report noted that the roll out of the Samsung’s Galaxy A series was delayed due to low production yields for the full metal bodies, but will still hit “select markets” including China in November. It said that both the smart phones were planned for Q3 launch, but because of Samsung having difficulties in producing the metal casings for its first full-metal unibody designed smart phones, the company instead announced the smart phones in Q4.

The report had noted that “the casings did not meet the quality requirements Samsung was aiming for, and only around 50 percent of the yield came out right.”
