EALING: Antarctica experienced its two hottest days on record during late March as climate change continued to wield its greatest influence on polar regions.
Official weather reports from Argentina’s Esperanza Base, on the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, showed a maximum temperature of 63.5 degrees Fahrenheit on March 24.
It came in one day after Argentina’s Marambio Base recorded a maximum of 63.3 degrees.
Both were much warmer than the previous all-time high of 59 degrees set at the now-abandoned Vanda Station on Jan. 5, 1974.
Argentine officials verified the accuracy of the two new high temperature records, the World Meteorological Organization has yet to confirm their authenticity.
