Rs17m recovery case: SHC adjourns hearing against Tessori Trading

KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court adjourned the hearing of a special customs reference seeking recovery of Rs 17 million from Tessori Trading Company (Pvt) Limited to a Date in Office due to absence of the respondent’s counsel.

The bench comprised of Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar.

The reference filed by the customs collector against the company sought the recovery of Rs 17 million in duty and taxes evaded pertaining to various import consignments.

According to details, the respondent had paid Rs 17 million to NAB in a plea bargain deal. However, the appellant customs collector is seeking the recovery of the said amount because he says that duty and tax evasion case was detected and lodged by him. However, NAB has also become a party.
