SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot has recovered smuggled Iranian Rani Juice and seized non-duty paid dumper truck worth Rs. millions on Sialkot-Daska Road under Iran Transit Trade Agreement on the other day.
Reportedly, Collector Customs MCC Sialkot Ahmed Reza Khan got a tip-off that some smugglers are using Sialkot-Daska Road for smuggling items of Iran to Sialkot and other adjacent areas. The collector ordered Assistant Collector and ASO Incharge Ali Mohatashim Minhas to take strict action against smugglers. The ASO Incharge instructed Superintendent Sardar Manzoor Ahmed Khan to take stern action against smugglers.
He constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Ali Hassan and directed him to check vehicles. Inspector along with his team started checking of vehicles and intercepted a Suzuki Carry Cabin with registration No: STA-09-1586. Upon searching, the team recovered 200 smuggled Iranian Rani Juice crates worth Rs200000 including duty taxes of Rs30000.
The team asked driver Rasheed about the status of the Rani Juice and the truck but he failed to produce any documents. The team impounded the Hino truck with smuggled 8122 pieces of laakh worth Rs04million and duty taxes Rs1.5million. The team released the driver after proper interrogation and impounded the dumper which was without registration number.
Another truck was impounded with smuggled goods loaded. Driver Akbar was asked to prove the legal status of the truck but he failed to do so. Upon this, the truck was taken into possession by the customs team.
The team registered three cases against drivers under Section 157/158 of Customs Laws and Customs Act-1969.
