Sialkot ASO impounds vehicle & goods valued Rs2m

SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Sialkot, has impounded a smuggled vehicle and other items worth Rs2 million from January 1 to 19, 2017.

On the directions of Assistant Collector Ali Mohatasham Minhas, Superintendent Sardar Manzoor constituted a team to curb smuggling attempts. The ASO team consisted of Inspectors Arshid Maqbool and Amjad Mayo and Constables Muhammad Arshad, Rafique and Rehmat. The impounded vehicle valued Rs1.2 million (Rs 1200,000) under Section 157/58.

The other goods confiscated include 46 Iranian tyres worth Rs400.000 and cumin clothes worth Rs600.000. All these items were brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization seized the above said goods and vehicle under Section 156 (1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act-1969. The case has been forwarded to the Adjudication Court and legal notices had also been issued to the owners of impounded vehicle and items to plead their case.
